Metzel Mae Cochran Turley, 83 of South Charleston passed away on May 12, 2018 at home. Metzel was born on June 10, 1934 in Leewood, WV to the late Joseph F. and Ida Mae Lavendar Cochran.  She was a retired Executive Secretary from Appalachian Power Company with 29 years of service.

Donald Hilbert Droullard passed away May 10, 2018 in Charleston. Don was born in Charleston, West Virginia and attended Armor Park elementary. After graduating from Stonewall Jackson High School, Don enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Sierra off the coast of China.

Marilyn was born on October 24, 1931, to the late Gertrude and Phillip Hamrick of South Charleston, WV.  She attended schools in Parkersburg and Charleston, WV, graduating from Stonewall Jackson High School where she was junior and senior class president and member of Lambda Chi Omega Sorority.

Sarah Rose Bishop Frail

Sarah Rose Bishop Frail, 90, a lifetime resident of Charleston, passed away on May 2, 2018, at the Oakridge Center. Born on June 6, 1927, Sarah was the oldest of four children of Theodore and Geraldine Bishop.  On June 2, 1997, she buried the love of her life, her husband of 49 years, John L. Frail.

Frances Louise Moore Bock “Brownie”

Our beautiful mother and friend passed away at home from a long illness on April 30, 2018. She was born in Pocahontas, VA on July 23, 1923 to Charlie and Polly Brown. She lost her mother at the age of 8 and moved to Charleston, WV to be raised by her aunts. She was a 1943 graduate of Charleston High and was one was one of the first majorettes in the Kanawha valley.

Roslyn (Rose) Carol Scott

Roslyn (Rose) Carol Scott lost her battle with kidney cancer at the home of her sister Madlyn Scott of Ocean Pines, Maryland on Monday April 30, 2018.  Rose was born to Kathleen (nee Bias) and Harold Worth Scott on May 22, 1947.

Paul Anthony Leary, 79, of South Charleston, died peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018 after a period of failing health. He was originally from Canton, Massachusetts born to the late Charles F. and Frances S. Leary. Paul received his Doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1969.

Benjamin (Ben) Thomas Martin, 76, of Charleston, passed away on April 24, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House West. Ben was born in Charleston to the late Hugh F. and Bernice Price Martin.  He was head mechanic at Colonia Exxon on Bridge Road for 40 years.

Michael James Howard, 69, of Dunbar, passed away on April 22, 2018, after a long battle with Leukemia. Born on September 1, 1948 in Charleston, he was a native of West Virginian.  He grew up in South Charleston and was a long time resident of Dunbar.

Samara Nicole D’Arco

Samara Nicole D’Arco, 19, of South Charleston, passed away in a tragic car accident, April 19, 2018. She was a full-time student of South Charleston High School and Ben Franklin Career Center. She was preparing for her upcoming senior prom and for graduation ceremonies in May. Samara leaves behind a one-month old infant son.
