Eleanor Sue Kawsek, 93, of Charleston, West Virginia passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Meadowbrook Acres.

Born in 1931 to the late Frank and Agnes Kawsek in Charleston, WV.  She was 1949 graduate of Charleston Catholic High School. She was a member of Sacred Heart and attended Blessed Sacrament. She was very active in the church as well as the Charleston Women’s Club. She loved to sing and was an avid supporter of the Charleston Symphany. She was very generous and loved helping others. Eleanor was a life-long educator and former administrator / directress of the Charleston Montessori School that had been located in the Fort Hill Child Development Center in South Charleston. The school she started in 1974 was the first of its kind in the area. She dedicated her life and finances to educating and caring for children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frankie Kawsek.

Eleanor is survived by her dear friend, Jane Ann Grishaber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, April 1, 2024 at Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of Sacred Heart, Charleston with the Very Rev. Fr. Donald X. Higgs officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Mausoleum Chapel, South Charleston. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the Mass.
