John Alan Damous

John Alan Damous, 79, of Charleston, West Virginia passed away on March 2, 2024.

He was born on December 6, 1944 in Charleston, WV. He graduated from Charleston High School and attended West Virginia University. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in microbiology and chemistry.

He was employed for 7 years at Eastman Chemical Products out of Kingsport, TN. He worked with chemists and engineers who were developing new products. He then went into sales with Eastman living in Syracuse, NY and Boston, MA. He covered upstate NY as well as other New England states in sales calling on major chemical companies. He moved back home to Charleston, WV where he was a property manager for many years for his family enterprise. He then became a financial advisor at Wheat First Securities which later became Wells Fargo Advisors. He was employed there for 24 years helping people with their financial plans. His knowledge of the stock market had many people coming to him for advice. In his retirement, he managed money for family members and enjoyed being involved in stock market trading.

He was preceded in death by father, John Damous; mother, Jennie Skaff Damous; brother-in-laws, Kent E. Jackfert and Frederick J. Krase.

Surviving are his sisters, Jennifer Jackfert, Gerri Krase and Charlene Damous. He had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Nieces, Lindsay Jackfert Griffith (Truman Griffith), Kim Krase Jarrouj (Michael Jarrouj), Katelin Jackfert Emory (Matt Emory), and Kelly Krase. Nephews, John Jackfert (Caitlin Jackfert), Matthew Jackfert, Fred Krase II (Jody Krase), and Christopher “Kip” Krase. John was loving, caring person that was always there to help people. He will truly be missed by all.

A service to Honor the Life of Alan will be held at Noon, Thursday, March, 7, 2024 at St. George Cathedral, Charleston with Very Rev. Fr. Paul R. Solberg officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.  Family and friends may visit from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the church and again from 11:00 am to service time on Thursday, March 7th at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. George Foundation, 190 Court St, Charleston, WV 25301 or the American Heart Association 162 Court St, Charleston, WV 25301.
