As-Needed Funeral Service & First Call Attendant (Overview)
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and community-minded individual to join our team as an As-Needed Funeral Service & First Call Attendant. This position offers exceptional schedule flexibility, making it an ideal opportunity for those looking to stay active, give back to the community, or supplement an existing retirement income.
In this role, you will provide critical, dignified support during "first calls" (the transfer of a decedent into our care) and assist with funeral services. If you possess excellent interpersonal skills, desire to serve local families with utmost respect, and have the physical ability to perform the requirements of the job, we invite you to apply.
What We Are Looking For
Candidates must be professional and display a high level of maturity & tact. Having a professional demeanor and ability to work with discretion, and to handle sensitive situations with grace. Being flexible is key. Working on an as-needed basis, including occasional evenings, weekends, or overnight on-call shifts is important to this role.
In this position, having good physical stamina and the ability to safely lift, push, and maneuver transport equipment (frequently 75+ lbs) with a partner is paramount. Your personal appearance, respectful communication style and your ability to comfort and guide our families is just as important. When someone loses a loved one every step is important. Whether it is during the removal, the transport, or the funeral service, we always want to provide a high level of dignity, respect and professionalism. Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a clean, safe driving record as well.
Key Responsibilities
• First Call Response: Respond to notifications of death and professionally transfer the deceased from hospitals, care facilities, or private residences to the funeral home.
• Service Assistance: Greet guests, assist with parking, direct attendees, and support the funeral director during visitations and services.
• Dignified Representation: Serve as a calm, reassuring, and professional presence for grieving families during highly sensitive times.
• Vehicle & Facility Care: Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and readiness of our transport vehicles and facilities.
