Gloria J. Boxley-Brown
Mrs. Gloria Jean Boxley-Brown, 75 y/o of Charleston, WV passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 and welcomed into heaven by God’s grace. She was born to the late James and Sarah E. Boxley, in Charleston, WV on July 2, 1950.
She married her best friend Timothy G. Brown “Love of My Life” 23+ years ago in Charleston, WV. She raised (5) children with patience, unconditional love, kindness, a fun loving spirit as a Mom who wanted the best for her children, she was extremely caring, and most of all had a unique “smile” as Granny Glo to all her grandkids/great-grandchildren. She was a poet/ songstress at heart, always working on her next masterpiece, kind, funny, smart, and always ready to challenge the family with trivia prizes. She will be dearly missed by all her loved ones, forever in our hearts, and celebrated as the goodness that is in each of us as her loved ones.
She worked as a teachers aide at the CAMC Lighthouse Daycare, with children as her lifelong passion. At an early age she was someone who took to childcare, passed this onto “Daton” and enjoyed the role of “Mother” because she was a nurturer at heart. She graduated with her GED from Garnet Career Center, attended the (OIC) Opportunities Industrialization Center, and received her aide training at Ben Franklin Career Center. She was a beautiful soul, whether she was up or down she always had a smile, a roll of the “eyes”, or quiet word of encouragement.
Known above all for her “can do” attitude, she enjoyed sitting on the porch with Tim welcoming family/friends with a little sip of “bubbles” in her fancy glasses, and smoking a cigarette during the warm spring/summer nights. Getting together for BBQ’s, welcoming family/friends from out of town, and listening to smooth grooves/Usher/R. Kelly and that “brown liquor” music with Tim. Watching the grandkids playing in the yard over the years, playing cards, loving on her family, watching her brothers “Brotha/Paul/Dooney” play sports in their youth, gossiping/shopping for a deal with her sis’ Shirley and enjoying life with her “boo” Tim were their own special moments of enjoying a beautiful life.
As a TV watcher she’d be laid back on the couch in her pjs with the remote, calling Tim while he watched the Dallas Cowboys, enjoying her B/W cowboy shows, or her most recent “action” series with sons Stephen/Myone “nodding off”:). She was definitely a determined woman who worked hard, had class, exemplified selflessness, feisty at times, enjoyed traveling with a passion with daughter “Stephanie”, a best friend, a good listener for son “Reyeal”, loved her some Wertz Avenue, and was always the best “Mom and Friend” to her five children.
Lastly, she is survived by her eldest daughter Annesheia (Andre) Jones, daughter Dr. Daton Dean, eldest son Stephen Boxley, son Myone (Latasha) Boxley, and son Reyeal. Grandchildren T’Andre Boxley, T’Jaysia English, T’Ayon English, Jaden Edwards, T’Alayah Boxley, Niyana Jackson, Brooklyn Boxley, (4) beautiful great grandchildren: T’ianni Boxley, T’iarri Bays, Makari Bays, and T’alyia Boxley. Siblings James (Johnna) Boxley, Paul (Priscilla) Boxley, and Shirley Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband Timothy G. Brown, her brother Robert Boxley, and both of her parents.
Because she was our guiding light “Glo”, our footsteps in the sand (or over the bridge) will forever be blessed by the example we have in you “Mom” and a lifetime of loving memories. Living life to it’s fullest, smiling every step of the way”, always the example “Love” in action, and knowing that your love for each of us is “Timeless”….
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2026 at Snodgrass Funeral Home at 12noon for service, and a public viewing at 11am.

Gloria Jean was a sweet and special person. So loving and caring and a joy to be around
Condolences to the Boxley Family. She’ll never be forgotten but I’m sure will be greatly missed. I hope comfort can be found in the midst of your loss.
ANNESHEIA, so sorry to hear about your Mother’s passing. Sending prayers to all the families of Gloria, she was a joy to talk with and also with Shirley on our phone conversations. I have known her & Shirley for years now since she rented a storage bldg S & B mini storage from my son (Shane passed in 2012). He thought so much of Gloria and I think they often talked on the phone a lot, just to see how things were going. She was a wonderful lady and my thoughts and prayers are with you today as you go through this difficult time. Just always remember you will see her again on the other side, and God is taking good care of her now.
So sorry to hear about your mother. I know what you are going through praying for you and the family. I am sorry I have so much going on and cannot be with you all the way I would like to be. Love and prayers for you all. I have to work will come to funeral but have to return to work. Love you all so much. You will
Always be in my prayers.
