Carol Colleen Hinchman, known to her loved ones as Carol, peacefully passed away on October 27, 2023, in Bellevue, Washington. She was born on September 23, 1941, in Logan, West Virginia, to Hatler and Edith Cornette.

Carol had a fulfilling career working for the Logan County Department of Public Assistance, the VA Hospital, the Office of Surface Mining, and for the federal government in the Social Security Administration.

In her younger years, Carol attended Logan County Schools and graduated with Honors from Logan High School. She held the esteemed position of editor for the Here’s How, the school newspaper. Carol’s exceptional academic achievements led her to become a recipient of the West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Award. She was also a proud member of the National Honor Society, Quill, and the Keyettes service club.

Beyond her career, Carol had a variety of interests and hobbies. She was a talented jewelry artist and enjoyed expressing her creativity through her craft. Carol also had a green thumb and found solace in gardening. Additionally, she embraced her role as a homemaker, creating a warm and loving environment for her family.

Carol will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her sons, Michael (Debbie) Hinchman of North Bend, WA, and Mark Hinchman of Charleston, WV. She also leaves behind her beloved grandson, David Hinchman of Seattle, WA, and her brother, Carson (Betty) Cornette of Cadiz, KY. Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, David Hinchman; her father, Hatler Cornette; her mother, Edith Cornette; and her brothers, David and Donald Cornette.

To honor Carol’s life and legacy, a funeral service was held at Flintoft Funeral Home in Issaquah, WA, on November 6, 2023. A second service will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

Carol Colleen Hinchman will forever be remembered for her dedication to public service, her love for her family, and her passion for creativity and nurturing. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
