Andrew Blackwell Barron

Andrew Blackwell Barron, 41, of Charleston, WV passed away on 06/21/2026 at his home.

He was born on November 15, 1984, in Charleston, WV to the late Terence “Terry” Barron and the late Lynn Miller Barron.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are paternal grandparents, Frank John Barron and Catherine Barron of Saint Mary’s, WV, and maternal grandparents Clayton and Huberta “Babs” Miller of Florida.

Andrew was a lifelong Charlestonian, graduating in 2003 from Charleston Catholic High School where he swam and ran cross country for the Fighting Irish. He attended the University of Charleston where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Broadcasting.  Andrew was extremely proud and grateful for all he accomplished during his time at UC. His proudest moments included working in the sports media department and covering UC’s football team, providing coverage for “The Eagle” news station, and his coverage of former President Barack Obama’s visit to the University of Charleston as well as coverage of his inauguration in Washington, DC.

As Andrew would often say, he wore many hats.  He worked throughout his life and was skillfully trained in various professions including fireplace installation and repair, commercial kitchen delivery and installation, in optical laboratories and as an ophthalmic technician, and most recently in property management.  He was a member of the Davis Creek Watershed Association where he volunteered yearly during community cleanup events. Andrew was invested in his community and revered the Davis Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He had recently been attending Southridge Church.

Andrew considered himself a homesteader and took pride in being self-sufficient and resourceful.  His hobbies included gardening, fishing, camping and hiking.  He was adventurous and loved to travel.  He also enjoyed cooking, playing drums, and spending time with those closest to him.  Andrew never met a stranger, and was always equipped with a big smile, a funny joke, or an interesting story to tell.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife and best friend, Michelle Barron, daughter, Caroline, and step-daughter, Audrey Saunders; half-sister Ann Barron of Pensacola, FL; Aunt Nancy (Bob) Lyons of Duxbury, MA; Aunt June Kirkpatrick of Albuquerque, NM, Aunt Marjorie Donato, FL; Mother-in-law Brenda Dingess of Chapmanville, WV; brothers-in-law Chris (Crystal) Dingess of Jeffrey, WV and Nathan Dingess of Neola, WV and a host of extended family. In addition, Andrew had a very cherished neighbor whom he loved as a grandmother, Othenia Hopta.

A celebration of Andrew’s life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Snodgrass Funeral Home in South Charleston, WV.  The family will begin accepting friends at 1:00 p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Davis Creek-Ruthdale VFD, P.O. Box 8065 South Charleston, WV 25303.
