Stephen Edward Rowsey

Stephen Edward Rowsey, 77, of South Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2026. Stephen lived a life defined by kindness, loyalty, and an easy warmth that made every person he met feel like a friend. He truly never met a stranger — and he made sure no one ever felt like one.

Born to Edward Lee Rowsey, Jr. and Nancy Jean Bolick Rowsey, Stephen grew up with a strong work ethic and a generous heart. He spent 17 years with NGK, where he was known for his dependability and good nature. After retiring, he continued serving his community by mowing lawns throughout South Charleston, always greeting neighbors with a smile, a story, or a laugh.

Stephen was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of South Charleston, where his presence was steady and heartfelt. He was also a huge WVU fan, cheering on the Mountaineers with unmatched enthusiasm. Staying active was important to him, and he loved working out at Nautilus, where he formed friendships that meant the world to him.

At home, Stephen found joy and companionship in his beloved dogs — Andy, Josie, and Maddy — who were constant sources of comfort and happiness.

Stephen is survived by his daughter, Julie Ashworth (Tim); his sisters Cherie White (Bob) and Christy Shanklin; his brother Jeff Rowsey (Tina); nephews Ted Heiser, Corey White, and Luke Rowsey; nieces Stephanie Grad, Melaine Early, and Alexa White; and many extended family members and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Stephen’s legacy is one of kindness, friendship, and genuine connection. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and ability to brighten any room will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of South Charleston. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston.
