Phyllis Blankinship
Phyllis June Hobbs Blankinship. Born in Greenbrier County WV she met the love of her life and made her home in Charleston from 1956 to her natural death on August 17, 2026. She brightened the world as a daughter of Christ in the most awesome way. She loved on her husband and family like her mother before her and her mother before her. She and Dick are now reunited in Heaven, praising Jesus, and watching over those left to miss her. Tami Lowmiller, Amy Pauley and Dave Goldfarb, and Kelly Dulin, Andy Pauley, her only grandchild and his wife Taylor, and their kids, Phyllis’s great grandchildren, Bentlee and Zoey. She had many granddogs and cats and lots of family and friends.
You could always depend on Phyllis to get involved. Whether it was Girl Scouts, church committees or activities, community projects-wherever she was needed. Our camp on the Greenbrier River was her happy place. She loved sharing it with her family and friends. Our trips to Myrtle Beach were her second happy place. She loved everything about it. Another one of her favorite things to do was baking orange rolls. IYKYK! She was also very smart. Phyllis was valedictorian of her graduating class at Smoot High School with eight students.
We would like to thank her caregivers, Joyce and Barbara, they treated her like a queen. We couldn’t have gotten along without you ladies. Thank you! Also, the nurses, CNA’s and Hospice. Thanks to all the neighbors that have helped her out over the years.
Phyllis loved color. We would love it if you could wear your most colorful outfit to her Celebration of Life service which will be Saturday August 22, 2026 at Canaan United Methodist Church. Visitation 11-12, Celebration of Life service at noon. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Canaan United Methodist Church or the National MS Society.
