Mary DeRoo

Mary Virginia Morgan De Roo, at the age of 88, made her swift journey to heaven on Thursday, September 12, 2019, after battling a lengthy, debilitating illness.  Mary Virginia was a loving, devoted, supportive wife and mother, a person of strong convictions and faith, a positive force in the lives of many.

She was a passionate advocate for women and women’s rights.  She was a warm and caring helping hand for those less fortunate, always putting others before herself.

Esten Barnette Kee (Barney)

Esten Barnette Kee (Barney), 96, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Cedar Ridge Center. He was born on March 27, 1923, in Walton, WV.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents, Esten and Bernice Kee; brothers, Fisher, Darrell, Kent, Deane, and John; sisters, Paula and Patricia; and granddaughter, Stephanie Kee.

E. Herald Blair, Jr., age 81, of Charleston, passed away Monday September 9, 2019 at his residence.
Herald was born on September 22, 1937 in Parkersburg, son of the late E. Herald and Mary Ethel Johnson Blair.

John William Shultz, 91, of Charleston left us on September 4. John was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Elizabeth Shultz of Chelyan and his sister, Helen Bishop of South Charleston.

Charles Kenneth Butcher, II (Kenny), 57, of South Charleston passed away, Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House West after a long illness.

James Alan Ross

James Alan Ross, 67, of Charleston, passed away on August 27, 2019.

James was born in Wenatchee Washington on June 26, 1952 to the late Helen and Eskum Clyde Ross.  He lived in Charleston West Virginia and journeyed to many lands in-between.

James was a renaissance man. He was a Vietnam veteran, a beautiful woodworker and an effective, passionate fundraiser for his community.

Elizabeth Ann Baylor

Elizabeth Ann Woolwine Baylor, 83, of Charleston passed away on August 20, 2019.

Ann was a fun, adventurous person who loved to travel and paint. She was a member of the Allied Artist Guild and specialized in watercolor. She was the head majorette for South Charleston High School and won a scholarship to Marshall University in the Miss Kanawha Valley Majorette competition.

Robin Joy Haaland

Robin Joy Haaland, 63, of Charleston, passed away on August 13, 2019 at The University of Kentucky Health Care.
Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Robert “Bobby” Walker

Robert “Bobby” Oliver Walker Jr., of South Charleston, WV, passed away on August 4, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House West at the age of 58.
Bobby was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Martin and Lilly Coffey, his paternal grandmother Alameda Walker, and his father Robert Oliver Walker.

Robert Lowe, Jr.

Robert “Bob” W. Lowe, Jr., 86, of Charleston, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at CAMC Memorial.
Bob was born in Huntington but grew up in Charleston.  He graduated from South Charleston High School and attended Morris Harvey College and WVU.  Bob served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
