Phyllis Stollings

Phyllis Jean Stollings, age 85, of Charleston, passed away Sunday September 20, 2020 in CAMC General Hospital after a short illness.

She was born December 6, 1934 in Logan, WV, daughter of the late Bessie Mae Carter Brown and James A. Garfield Brown.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, Kermit, to whom she was married for 69 years; two sons, Gary and Jody Stollings; sister, Virginia Brown; and three brothers, Henry, James and Joseph Brown.

Fred Rutherford

Fred Rutherford, 75, of  South Charleston, WV, passed away on September 19, 2020 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Charleston, WV to the late Fred Allen Rutherford and Dorothy Marie Billups Rutherford.  He graduated from South Charleston High School class of 1963.  He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Dunbar Nazarene Church where he served as an usher.

Jimmy F. Rymer

Jimmy F. Rymer, age 86, passed away peacefully, with his son by his side, on Friday September 18, 2020 at HospiceCare West in South Charleston.
He was born July 15, 1934, son of the late Oris and Della Garrett Rymer.  He is also preceded in death by his wife Ann Gae Rymer; infant daughter, Susan; sister Betty McComas; brothers William Ray Rymer and Robert Ross.

Marian Hanna

Marian Ferguson Hanna, 90, of South Charleston, West Virginia died September 16, 2020 after a short illness.  She was born August 1, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the eldest child of the late Dr.  Samuel J.  Ferguson and Pauline Wheatley Ferguson.  She was predeceased by her husband, Homer W.  Hanna, Jr., and sister, Frances Ferguson Cogar.

Dr. John “Jack” Miller

Dr. John “Jack” Miller, age 95, of South Charleston, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2020. His family members were with him at his passing at his home.
Jack was born the third son to Edward and Gertrude Miller in Middleport, Ohio on January 22, 1925.

Michael Douglas Gates, 70, of Charleston, WV, passed away on August 30, 2020 at home.
He was born in Parkersburg, WV on May 8, 1950 the son of Chester E. Gates, Jr. and Margie McAtee.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester E. Gates, Sr. and Isabelle Baker Gates and Charles McAtee and Hazel Douglas McAtee as well as his sister, Sandra Kay Gates.

Bettie Powers

Bettie Lee (Allen) Powers of Charleston, widow of Lance N. Powers, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes.  She was the oldest daughter of the late Claude Ray and Florence Lee (Wallace) Allen and was born, raised and educated in Fayette County.  She remained a lifelong resident of the state, raising her family in Beckley and Charleston, working and retiring for the Diamond Department Store.

Chad Cardinal

Chad Marlo Cardinal, 57, of South Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Chad was born on August 14, 1963 in Vincennes, Indiana.  He graduated from Lincoln High School of Vincennes in 1981.
