James D. Eplin,84 of Charleston, passed away on Thursday April 2nd at Charleston General Hospital. Jim entered into heaven while surrounded by his family following a short illness. He was born in Owens, WV on June 1, 1935 to James and Gertrude Eplin.
Yvonne Jean “Donna” Ballard, age 77, of Loudendale, passed away Tuesday March 31, 2020 at her residence.
Donna was born on October 3, 1942 in Charleston, daughter of the late Reid and Elise Pennington. She is also preceded in death by her husband David Ballard, and siblings Kenneth, Emma Lou, and Dreama.
Judith (Judy) Lake Dumont, 74, of Charleston, WV passed away March 29, 2020 at her home.
Judy was born August 3rd, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY to Cletus J. and Mildred A. Byrne.
Eleanor Louise Fox Henson, 87, of Alum Creek passed away March 20, 2020. After graduating from South Charleston High School in 1949, she married Joseph (JC) Henson and raised her four children in South Charleston where she contributed greatly to the community. Proud of her work life, first as a Kelly Girl Temp to Administrative Assistant for Union Carbide Corporation, she chose early retirement to help raise her grandchildren with the same spirit of compassion and caring for all who knew her.
Bob Ellsworth Willis Sr., age 84, of Charleston, passed away at his home on Thursday March 26, 2020.
Bob was born and raised in Eskdale, in Cabin Creek, West Virginia and graduated from East Bank High School in 1953.
Betty Louise Barnett Woomer, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on March 24, 2020, at the age of 94.
Mark Scott Wilcox, 68 years old of Charleston WV, passed away suddenly, on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at CAMC Memorial Division.
He was born on August 14, 1951 in New Martinsville, WV to Jack and the late Patti Wilcox. He is also preceded in death by his brother Rick Wilcox
Lieutenant Colonel James Barton (Bart) Cavendish, age 51, went to meet his heavenly father on Monday March 16, 2020. Bart was an East Bank High School graduate in 1987 and pursued his higher education at Marshall University and graduated in 1992 with a B.S. Degree in Biology.
Katherine Ports Turner, 99, of Dunbar, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Hubbard Hospice House-West in South Charleston.
She was born in Clifton Forge, VA to the late Edgar and Fanny Turner. Katherine was formerly employed by the Jackson Herald and was an avid fan of the Charleston based baseball teams of the past. She also enjoyed needlepoint and loved cooking for family and friends. She had a wonderful heart and was thought to have never met a stranger.
Frank Wade Helvey, Jr., 81, of South Charleston, passed away on March 11, 2020 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
He was born in Charleston, WV to the late Frank Wade and Dorothy Louise Simms Helve. He was a 1957 graduate of South Charleston High School and graduated from Marshall University and West Virginia University Law School. He was a public defender throughout his career. He was an avid reader.
