Jill Lemaster

Jill Lemaster, 78, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020.
She was born to the late Roy N. and Donna Pauline Smith Richardson in Charleston, WV on May 31, 1941. She was a graduate of Dunbar high School and retired as Assistant Vice President of Bank One after 35 years of service. Jill was a member of the Dunbar High School Alumni Association and served as the Treasurer and was very active with reunion planning. She was a member of the Dunbar Women’s Club.

Ronald “Ron” Lewis Williamson

Ronald Lewis Williamson of South Charleston passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the age of 82.

He was born on November 24, 1938 to Lexford Williamson and Mary Ruth Hopson in Prestonsburg, KY.  He graduated from South Charleston High School class of 1957.  Ron served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division and the United States Army Reserve.

Homer Lee Calvert, Jr.

Homer “Lee” Calvert, Jr., age 94, of Gassaway, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, with his son, Dave, and daughter-in-law, Donna, by his side in Maryville, Tennessee.

Lee was born on April 4, 1925 in Pine Grove, West Virginia, a son of the late John Homer Calvert and Mary Glasscock Calvert. Lee and his first wife, Mary Ann Simons Calvert, lived in Charleston, West Virginia and had two children, Sandra “Sandy” Lee Calvert and David “Dave” Keith Calvert. 

Dorothy Cook

Dorothy Nell Cook, 92, of South Charleston, died at home on Friday, February 14, 2020 with her children and dogs by her side.
She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, South Charleston. Retired school teacher from Raleigh County, WV, she began her career in a one room school-grades 1-6 at Cook Elementary School in Arnett, WV around 1947-48. She continued teaching at several other schools including Peach Tree, Eccles and Clear Fork, retiring after 35 years in 1987.

Helen Damron

Helen Virginia (Wilson) Damron, 90, of South Charleston, West Virginia, died February 7, 2020. She was born June 25, 1929 in Kenova, WV, to Wilma Wright Wilson (Rowe) and George Russell Wilson.  Despite The Great Depression and the death of her father at a young age, Helen wanted for nothing; her mother, Wilma, and step-father, Cecil Rowe, provided a home full of love and laughter.

Jane Donaldson Stringer

Jane Donaldson Stringer, age 93, died on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at home in Charleston, WV, following an extended illness.
She was born on December 25, 1926, in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Ovel Hull and Gladys Neal Donaldson­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­.

Richard “Dickie” Burnette

Richard “Dickie” Burnette, 84, of South Charleston, passed away on February 8, 2020 at Hospice House West, South Charleston.
He was born on December 25, 1935 in Charleston, WV to the late William and Marie Burnette. Dickie retired from the phone company with 38 years of service.  He was an avid pool player, traveling to Las Vegas numerous times to play in tournaments. 

Jane Ann “Janie” Dotson

Jane Ann “Janie” Dotson, 74, of South Charleston, passed away on February 5, 2020 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Janie was born in Freeburn, Kentucky on July 13, 1945 to the late William and Thelma Eldridge. 

Rosalie T. Howery

Rosalie T. Howery, 89, of Dunbar, WV passed away on February 6, 2020 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 17, 1930 in Seth, WV to the late Conley and Mabel Sutphin Tomlinson. She graduated in 1948 as Valedictorian from Sherman High School.
