Margaret Hornick Slaymaker, 91, of Dunbar, WV, passed away on March 19, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Elkhorn, WV, to the late Steve and Annie Semonco Hornick.

Margaret was employed by the State of West Virginia for over 32 years as a legal secretary in the Workers’ Comp division. She was also a member of the Dunbar Church of the Nazarene.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fredrick Slaymaker; her four brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her son, David Mellert; sister, Helen Burnop; Goddaughter (niece), Karen Blizzard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her son, David, would like to thank Margaret’s many friends for their kindness, love, and the friendship they shared with her over the years.

As per Margaret’s wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest beside her late husband at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar at a later date.
