Howard Hensel Hackney, Jr., a lifelong resident of South Charleston, West Virginia, passed away after a short illness on May 18, 2026.  He was 85 years old.

Howard was the son of the late Howard Hensel Hackney, Sr., and Catherine Weaver Hackney.

Howard spent his career in the chemical industry and retired from FMC after many years of service.  Howard enjoyed his retirement doing more of what he loved including golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Linda Sue Holston Hackney.  He is also survived by his sister, Lynn Evans (Don); his children, Matt Hackney (Beth) and Jodi Jackson (Scott); his grandchildren, Sam Jackson, Ben Hackney (Kerry), Marie Hackney, and Hannah Williams (Bodhi); his great-grandchildren, Daniel Hackney and Isla Williams. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

A private family gathering will be held to honor his life.
