Gregory Jones

Gregory Wayne “Pappy” Jones left earth to begin his walk with Jesus on September 25, 2018 after a well-fought battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born in Charleston, WV on November 25, 1948 to Charles Warren Jones and Betty Jo Crow Jones.

Pappy really lived life, and never met a stranger. Everyone was his friend, and he was ever-ready to lend a helping hand at a moment’s notice. He loved to fish and golf, but more than anything he loved being around his family. Pappy adored being a grandfather to his two grandsons and loved to tell people about their adventures. He spread love, laughter, joy, kindness, and generosity wherever he traveled and it was a well-known fact that no matter where he was going, he was going to run in to someone he knew.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years Katherine “Kathi” Rupe Jones; one daughter Jennifer Jones Bragg and son-in-law Bradley Bragg; grandsons Nicholas Bragg, along with wife Amy, and Bradley Bragg, II; one brother Bruce Jones and sister-in-law Susan Mace Jones; along with a large group of extended family and friends that all loved him well. He was preceded in death by his infant sister Jennifer Jones and parents Warren and Betty Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Pappy’s honor in late November, around what would have been his 70th birthday. Details will be posted once a date and venue have been selected. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a Leukemia research facility of the donor’s choosing. The family also requests that everyone that Pappy touched carry on his tradition: spread seeds of kindness everywhere you go. Help without thought of compensation. Love everyone and, most especially, love the Lord and your families with every ounce of your being. Kathi and Jennifer would like to extend a special thank you to Andrew Rowlett for his over-and-beyond care of Pappy during the last weeks of his life, along with his support once the end drew near.

Snodgrass Funeral Home is taking care of the Jones family.
