Alvin Shelton, 83, of Charleston, WV concluded a courageous battle with cancer on June 24, 2026. He was born September 21, 1942.

Alvin worked in the coal industry most of his life, was a plant superintendent for many years and later worked in mining sales and retired in 2014.

He enjoyed golf and a good vacation. He was kind and humble, loved his family more than measure and watched over us always.

Alvin was a Christian man who loved the Lord deeply and served the Lord over the years as a teacher of adult Sunday School and led an adult VBS Class, where he was a member of Kanawha City Baptist Church. He enjoyed discussion regarding the bible and in particularly Isiah 56 and John 14, in his passing, his family found comfort in Isiah 12.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Shelton; daughters, Tanya and Renee Shelton; sisters, Doris Smith and Sandra Castle; many nieces and nephews who he loved greatly.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Maxine Shelton; brother, George R. Shelton.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
