Barbara Ann Miles Edens

Barbara Ann Miles Edens, 90 of Charleston, WV, left this world to be with the Lord on July 24, 2025, after a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Delmer “Guy” Miles and Blanche Jenny Miles of Charleston; her husband of 50 years, Dr. David L. Edens, and her fur babies, “Pepper” and “Charlie.”

Barbara was born on February 13, 1935, and spent her entire life in Kanawha City. She graduated from Charleston High School, class of 1953. After graduation, she worked for the C&P Telephone Company for several years, before joining her mother to work for, and retire from, Stone & Thomas Department store.

Barbara loved her family, her many cats over the years, reading, watching Charles Stanley church services, and especially cleaning her house. No cleaner house could be found!

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Debra McClanahan; grandson, David Shields; granddaughter, Kelli McClanahan; and the love of her life; great-grandson Liam Shields, all of which are from Charleston.

She is also survived by her brother, Robert L. Miles of Charleston; niece, Polly Osborne (Tom) of New Jersey; and nephew, Bob Miles of Charleston; along with two great- nieces (Melanie and Ashley) and two great-nephews (Patrick and Ben).

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses at CAMC Hospice, who cared for her with such love and compassion in her final days.

A private memorial service will be held before her interment at Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston.

“We love you so much, Mom. We will see you again one day.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hubbard Hospice House of Charleston (https://www.hospicecarewv.org/make-a-donation/)

“Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot heal.”
