Dana Lee Surbaugh
Dana Lee Surbaugh, 72, of Gauley Bridge, WV, passed away on March 7, 2025, at CAMC General Hospital.
Dana was born on June 7, 1952, in Charleston, WV. He served his country in the United States Navy, and throughout his life served as an LPN Nurse, Paramedic, Police Officer, and a Chief of Police. When the town of Gauley Bridge, WV, became incorporated, Dana served as their first police officer, and later became the Chief of Police.
Dana was preceded in death by his daughter, Nickie Lee Surbaugh; mother, Betty Jean Surbaugh; and father, Gordon Lee Surbaugh.
Dana is survived by his wife, Joyce Surbaugh; daughter, Dawn Rene Surbaugh Camble; son, Jeremy Lee Byrd; grandchildren, Jeffrey James Smith II, Kylee Suzanne Smith, and Justin Lee Johnson; great grandsons, Raiden Lee Morris and Augustus Ray Johnson; sister, Alice Hunt; and niece, Kortni Hunt.
At Dana’s request, there will be no services at this time. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at CAMC General Hospital, 3 South.
