Virginia “Jenny” Morrison
Virginia “Jenny” Morrison, 76, of Nitro, WV, passed away on February 28, 2025, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.
For many years, Jenny worked at the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, as did her mother Loa Martin before her. Jenny loved art and crafts, including toll painting, basketry, bead working, and many other crafts. She made a special Christmas Ornament for the White House during the time Laura Bush was First Lady, and was able to go to Washington DC to have brunch with the other artists selected across the country, and Ms. Bush herself, in the White House dining room.
A service to honor and celebrate the Jenny’s life will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, 4122 MacCorkle Avenue, SW, South Charleston, WV. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am.

I have many fond memories of the Stratford Road girls growing up together. I have been talking to Jenny a lot lately since we have not been well. I will miss her.
My husband and I worked with Jenny for many years at the Cultural Center. We also worked with her at special events at Vandalia and camp Washington Carver. Jenny had relatives in Beckley that I also knew. It’s a small world.
So sadden to hear this. Jenny was a wonderful friend – hardworking, joyful and full of life. I hold many fond memories of her. Rest in peace.
