Naydeen (Dixie) Francis Babbitt, 88, passed away on Dec 25,2025, in Charleston, WV.

Born on July 22,1937, in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Mildred Woods of Nitro.

She is survived by her children, Kelly Ledsinger (George) of Houston, Texas, Tracey Morris (Glen) of South Charleston, WV, Brittany Barta (Joe) of North Carolina, James Babbitt (Patty) of Scott Depot, WV , and Michelle Babbitt of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Ryan Ledsinger, David (Kat), Isaiah (Amanda), Noah, and Hannah Morris, Joseph Barta (Cassandra), and Kaylee and Emma Babbitt; great grandchildren, Emakah, Jacquelyn, Sylvia Rose, Peyton, Kailin, and Mars.

She was a graduate of Nitro High School and attended WV State College before embarking on a life marked by service, faith, and love for her family and community. She served as President of the Charleston Women’s Club, Treasurer of the Nitro Women’s Club, was a member of the Pilots Club, and The Red Hats Club. She was active in her community and enjoyed volunteering to help others. She had an eye for fashion and was a buyer at Sakowitz in TX and The Diamond.

A natural advocate for others, she found her calling working at Shawnee Hills with mentally and physically challenged individuals. With her sharp intellect, compassion, and flair for performance, she was instrumental in helping to spearhead the award-winning Creative Expression Program that brought her so much joy. They performed on stages across the country and were invited to perform at The White House. Dixie was a show stopper with a heart as big as her personality. She loved people, was an avid reader and a great cook. Her greatest love was her family and her love for the Lord. She was a beacon of joy and inspiration to everyone that knew her.
