Maree Fleming Skaff
Maree Fleming Skaff, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2025. She was born April 28, 1934, in Ravenswood, West Virginia.
Maree is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 68 years, Major General Joseph Skaff of Charleston, WV; her children, Joe Skaff (Debbie) of Springfield, VA, Lynn Johnson (David) of Cookeville, TN, Greg Skaff (Kimberly) of Huntsville, AL, and Nancy Kochman (Curtis) of Venice, FL; her sisters-in-law, Pauline Skaff of Toledo, OH and Rosie Skaff of Charleston, WV. She is also survived by 13 wonderful grandchildren and 16 precious greatgrandchildren.
Maree is preceded in death by her parents, Will Fleming and Elsie Hume Fleming of Ravenswood, WV, and her siblings, William Fleming, Dave Fleming, and Joan Fleming Hoey.
Maree graduated valedictorian from Ravenswood High School in 1952. She attended West Virginia University for 2 years, and then went on to graduate from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She was a dedicated Army wife for 40 years, faithfully supporting her husband and children through 32 moves. Among the favorite places she lived were Hawaii, El Paso, West Point, and Japan.
Maree was a longstanding member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Her family brought her the greatest joy in her life and her daily quiet times with Jesus were a main priority. Maree had a heart for others and encouraged everyone she met. Her sense of humor never failed to bring a smile. She was greatly loved and will be extremely missed. She was surely welcomed into heaven with the words “Well done.”
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 900 Lawndale Lane, Charleston, WV at 1:00 pm., with Rev. Richard Mahan officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church or another charity of your choice.

Joe, I’m so sorry for you & your family’s great loss. I’m very happy for Maree for she is with Jesus the Christ. I’m very lhappy that Pr Mahan is doing her service. I will be in Chas Sept 4 but can’t get there for the funeral. 🙏🙏
