Ken Kennedy
Ken Kennedy was born on March 9, 1943. He died quite suddenly on November 19, 2024, at home.
Between those dates, he went to school, attended church, played football, and played varsity college basketball at West Virginia Tech. He became a teacher, basketball coach, and later an administrator for the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center. But his favorite job was being a father and a grandfather.
He was married to his wife, Donna, for 56 years and had one son, Chris. He is also survived by his daughter- in-law, Karri; and 2 glorious grandsons, Nicholas and Landon.
He had a love of sports his whole life, including basketball, running, fishing, skiing, and more. He really loved the West Virginia Mountaineers!
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Ken will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Snodgrass Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse (https://www.samaritanspurse.org/) at P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

So sorry to learn of Ken’s passing. We were classmates at Montgomery High School. My sincere condolences and sympathies are with the family.
I’m sorry for your loss. Treasure favorite memories.
I am so sorry to hear about Ken. We graduated from MHS in 1960. Prayers and deepest sympathy for his wife, son and the family. RIP, Ken. Maybe you, Butch Ballard, and Ochel Daniels can play basketball together.
Ken was a close and wonderful childhood friend. He had a kind heart, a calm demeanor, a bright mind, and abundant athletic gifts. We enjoyed many hours together camping, fishing, playing sandlot football and “shirts vs skins” basketball. He went on to achieve stellar athletic accomplishments in high school and college. He was soft spoken but fiercely competitive. He set high standards for himself and never quit trying to get better. Though time and distance limited our interaction during our adult years, Ken remained a memorable, cherished friend. I’m saddened at his loss; thankful for him being a part of the formative years of my life.
Mr.Kennedy was a great father and grandfather. I will miss seeing and talking with him at the cross country/track meets. I will miss that big smile. He was very proud of Chris and extremely proud of Nicholas and Landon.
Hi Donna, I’m sorry to hear of your husband’s passing.
Ken was our next door neighbor for the last 25 years. He was always kind and thoughtful. He was devoted to his home and family as well. We will surely miss him.
I am both shocked and sad to learn of Kenneth’s death. He was a kind and gentle friend throughout our public school years from elementary through high school. Ken and I had an on and off romantic relationship in high school and undergraduate school. I was fortunate to have the time with him the afternoon I was in Charleston to attend our high school class reunion. I know Donna, his children and grandchildren will sorely miss him in their lives. They have my condolences.
