Rest easy sir and thank you for everything. You’ve been my bff in-law since the day y’all married and will be truly missed. You were best! Salute!
From Arthur Capper to West Virginia State University and beyond. Proud of one of D.C.’s finest who is gone too soon.
May you rest in peace, Dee.
This was my ace since 1977! We met at WVSC and both from DC ! I found out we played football and baseball against each other in HS !
This was one of the most genuine, fly dressing, athletic, fight at drop of the hat ( for right reasons) DC brothers! I loved this guy and knew he felt same! In 1980 , while he was home from school , I took him with me to a baseball tryout ( I was already n team , he made it and played til he went back to college ( many don’t know this)
We played for the Washington Athletics ( local semi pro league! There are soooo many memories! Dee , gonna miss you brother! To his family, he was a great guy to many of us , a true one of a kind man’s man!! Rest In Peace Brother!!
Your brother from another mother!!
Loved and respected you !! One of the coolest to walk the Earth!!
To Melanie, family & friends,
What a wonderful heart felt tribute to “Dee”. So grateful to have met you and had a moment to break bread with him when last I visited WV.
Dee, will always be remembered as my big bother…fun loving, kind and overall good people. He will always be considered “family”. Over the years word would travel back to DC to tell of his career achievements, and his loving family life. The recent updates of his health decline and passing was heartbreaking of which I would to learn from my brother, Jeffrey.
I sincerely speak for all, my mother Aunt Bonnie (Dee would affectionately call her), her sister Aunt Fe Fe , my father “Strick” (who helped guide his early career in criminal justice while at Lorton), Mark, Gail (RIP) and many other DC/WV family who will dearly miss him.
May God continue to comfort and give you peace during your time of bereavement.
Sincerely,💐
Yvette and Jeffrey

Melanie and children,
Lee Lee and I are so saddened to hear of James’ passing. It was always a pleasure to run into him, especially in Kay’s barbershop. He and my husband always had good conversations. James leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love. May God comfort you all and give you His strength in the days ahead. We are praying for you.
Renae and I are so sorry to hear of James passing and would like offer our condolences to his wife and family. Sarge was a wonderful, energetic and brilliant guy. We had great conversations whenever he stopped by our house when he was out running.
James was also an interesting and inspiring person. He will be missed.
RIP Dee. I worked with Dee at job corps when he was counselor to the male students. The students admired him And he was a positive role model for them and others. Condolences to Melany and the rest of his family
