Garry Stewart
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garry “Turtles” Stewart on April 8, 2025, at the age of 68 after a short, sudden illness. Garry was born on March 20, 1957 in Charleston, WV to Doyle and Donna Stewart, and the younger brother of Michael.
Garry was a longtime resident of Cross Lanes and a devoted WVU fan. For more than four decades, his fall Saturdays were spent on the Blue Lot where he was always one of the first on the lot.
When not on the Blue Lot, Garry could be found at the Cross Lanes Nautilus where he spent countless hours on the treadmill and interacting with his gym family. It was at the gym where he met his girlfriend Michele, whom he adored and with whom he was looking forward to embarking on many future adventures.
Above all, Garry loved to brag about his kids, Sarah and Rob, and his grandchildren, Katie, Cam, and Beau. He wouldn’t miss one of Katie’s plays, went to as many of Cam and Beau’s ball games as he could and was impatiently awaiting the arrival of his newest grandchild, Lucy, in July.
Anyone who knew Garry would say he was one of their favorite persons to be around. Truly one of a kind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cross Lanes Nautilus, 917 Cross Lanes Dr, Charleston, WV 25313.
A celebration of Garry’s life will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, on Monday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. Interment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
