Edna Galloway
Edna Elizabeth (Latta) Galloway, 99, recently of Charleston, WV, passed away
peacefully on April 8, 2026, at Presbyterian Village in Austell, GA. Born on May 11, 1926, in Gallipolis, OH, to Charles Henry Latta and Carrie McGhee Latta, Edna lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity. Because she lost her own mother at such a young age, when she married, she dedicated her life to being a caring wife and mother.
Edna’s greatest joy was her family. She married the love of her life, Ralph Steven Galloway, in 1952, and they raised 7 children together. Her husband, Ralph, predeceased her in June of 2018 and he was later joined by their children, Vera E. Galloway (2022), Kim Galloway (2024), and Ralph S. Galloway, Jr. (2025), and their son-in-law, James (Dee) Walton (2025). Edna will spend her eternal life with her husband, children, her parents, her sister, Esther Walker and her brother, Daniel Latta, and a host of family and friends.
When her children were old enough to attend school, she dedicated her time to becoming a home manager for a well-respected doctor and his family, even taking trips to Disney World and other places with them. She also looked after her many grandchildren, and she loved tending her flower gardens and going to flea markets with her friend Frances Mitchell. But mostly, she loved caring for her family. She was a kind and caring person, and her love will live on in all who knew and loved her.
Edna is survived by her children Stephanie Clay (Kenneth), Linda Bridges (Kenneth), Marcia Galloway, and Melanie Walton. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many others who loved her like family.
A celebration of Edna’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston with Pastor Linda Duncan officiating, assisted by Wanda Hightower. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
