Devonia “Donie” Argento

Donie Argento, 87, of South Charleston, WV, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Magnolia Assisted Living.

Donie was born on January 25, 1938 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated from Tyner High School in 1955. She was a faithful member of Rock Lake Presbyterian Church for 60 years and of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 33 years. She was also an avid aviator, having a private pilot’s license while owning and operating her own planes out of Mallery Airport in South Charleston. She had a passion for art and was an experienced painter.

Donie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Benny Argento; parents, Lemuel and Pearl Duckett; and siblings, William, Ariena, Kenneth, Vera, Niagara, Lemuel, Cubert, and Eugene.

She is survived by her sister, Clara Nell Ellixson of Orlando; son, John Argento (Debbie) and grandchild Katrina (Josh) and great grandchild Reid; grandchildren, Benny (Claire) and Victoria, of North Carolina; and son Scott Argento (Teresa) and grandchildren Sarah and Nathan, of South Charleston.

A service to Honor the Life of Donie will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Snodgrass Funeral home in South Charleston, WV, with Pastor Patricia Jarvis officiating.  Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1pm.  Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
