Donald Campbell White
Donald Campbell White, 90, of Charleston, WV, and Marion, AL, passed away on July 14, 2025, at Hubbard House West. He spent his final days surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was born in Fritch, TX, on November 2, 1934, to the late Campbell Curtis White and Ethel Marguerite Willis White. After high school, Donald graduated from Auburn University in Alabama, where he met his wife of 68 years, Joyce “Bootsie” Barton, at the local Methodist Church. They moved to Charleston, WV, where he worked as a Civil Engineer for Columbia Gas until his retirement in the late 1980’s. He was a member of the Oakhurst Presbyterian Church in Charleston, and in 1995, Donald and Bootsie returned to Marion, AL, where he held membership at the Marion Methodist Church. While in Marion, Don enjoyed golf, traveling the country, camping, and square dancing with Bootsie.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Campbell Curtis White; mother, Ethel Marguerite Willis; brother, Dean White; and sister, Marjorie Hollis.
Don is survived by his wife, Joyce “Bootsie” White of Charleston, WV; daughters, Dondra Clay of Dunbar and Teri Whelan (Patrick) of South Charleston; grandchildren, Ed Merritt (Rachel) of Austin, TX, Dani Crouch of Dunbar, Brandon Merritt (Enybe) of Charleston, and Mikel Clay (Stephanie) of Scott Depot; and 9 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Don will be held at a later date in Marion, Alabama.
