Betty Ballard

Betty Ballard, 63, of Charleston, WV, unexpectedly passed away at her home on Thursday, December 12, 2024, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.

A graduate of Faith Christian Academy, Betty was known for her hard work, kindness and determination.  After many years of hard work, she recently retired from Horace Mann Middle School (Kanawha County Schools). Betty, affectionately known as “Betty Boop,” was an avid gardener who found joy tending to her flowers, often spending hours outside nurturing her beloved garden.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Todd Ballard; her parents, Harold and Margaret Bailey; her brother, Edward Bailey; her sister, Loretta Bailey; and her father-in-law, Joe Ballard.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Donna (Steven) Petry of Hurricane, WV, and Kathryn (Nathan) Johnson of Charleston, WV; four grandchildren, Andrew & Morgan Petry and Elliana & Autumn Johnson; her brother, Howard (Robin) Bailey; her sister, Helen (Greg) Harkless; her mother-in-law, Ann Ballard; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Tom) Taylor; brother-in-law, Steve (Ann) Ballard; as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A gathering of family and friends to honor Betty’s life will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Betty’s friends at Horace Mann Middle School and Divita Kidney Care Center for their love and support during this difficult time.

You courageously and dismissively fought your illness. Rest in Peace, Betty.
