A graduate of Coudersport High School in Coudersport, PA, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps immediately following graduation. He proudly served his country during World War II, fighting in the pivotal Battle of Okinawa, before being honorably discharged in 1946. Frank’s dedication to service remained a cornerstone of his character throughout his life.
A devoted resident of Charleston for over 50 years, Frank spent his career in the coal industry, ultimately becoming a respected figure as Chair of the West Virginia Surface Mining Association. Known for his leadership and unwavering commitment, Frank played a pivotal role in shaping the industry he was so passionate about.
Frank’s life was rich with pursuits that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was an avid tennis player, finding camaraderie and challenge on the court, and his skilled hands brought beautiful creations to life in his woodworking shop. But his greatest passion was undoubtedly his family. He poured his heart into raising his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, establishing a legacy of love, integrity, and resilience that will live on through each of them.
Preceding Frank in death were his parents; his first wife, Mary Schumacher Jennings, and his second wife, LaDonna Wilson Jennings; brothers, Richard and Burton Jennings; son, John “Jackie” Jennings; daughter, Cynthia Harrington; and grandchildren, Mary Kathleen “Katie” Harrington and Mary Kathryn Bruner.
He is survived by his children, Kathryn Bruner, Deborah Cotes (Osterman), Bruce Jennings (Nancy), and Brian Jennings (Sue). Also surviving are his stepchildren, Michael Wilson (Jane), Shelley Wilson and partner Candy Castaldi, and Laura Carpanzano (Dillon). His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Kristine Snively (Toby), Robert Cotes (Maren), Matthew Bruner (Lauren), Stephen Bruner (Bryanna), Elizabeth Bruner, Daniel Jennings (Kate), Ashley Jennings (Trevor Toth), Kayleigh Jennings; and step-grandchildren, David Wilson (Claire Nicely), Robert Wilson (Liz), Anna Wilson-Weustefeld, and Lucas Wilson-Weustefeld. He also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

We are so sad to hear of Frank’s passing. He was loved by so many people and will be dearly missed. Rarely was there a time we went out with Frank that he didn’t run into at least one person he knew, always bringing a smile to their face. The world lost an amazing man. We feel grateful he was part of our lives. We certainly will miss hearing all of his fascinating stories. Frank had a great wit and sharp mind. May Frank rest in peace.

I have known Frank for the last 42 years. He was the ultimate family man who loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Mary, LaDonna, many dear relatives and so many friends. Expert and ardent sports fan, I remember him predicting easily the Super Bowl winner very early in the NFL season (the Joe Montana San Francisco 49 Niners of the 80s). He had a charming smile and a great sense of humor. His craftmanship in woodworking was just outstanding. We cherish the lovely step stool that he made for us.
Frank is already missed by his children Kathy, Debbie, Bruce and Brian and all in his extended family and numerous friends.
Our sincere condolences on his passing
Enrique & Justin Cotes
Frank was a true gentleman with a comedic genius. We enjoyed being his neighbors for nearly a decade. Our best conversations were had on their front porch often accompanied by one of our yelping beagles. He was so patient and kind, often sharing his knowledge in a multitude of subjects including woodworking. We are so blessed to have known him and humbled to have called him a friend. Our prayers are with you all.
