Wanda June Miller

Wanda June Miller, 89, of South Charleston passed away peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House while surrounded by her family.

Wanda was born January 5, 1930, in Charleston. She met and married her husband, Richard “Dick” Miller, at age 16 on July 27, 1946. They had been married 65 years when he passed away on April 22, 2012. Together they raised two fine sons, Richard “Junior” and John Miller. They have five granddaughters, 11 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

After raising her family, she went back to school at age 40 and earned her nursing degree from Garnet Career Center. She was a wonderful nurse, genuinely enjoyed her career, and retired from CAMC Memorial in 1985.

Wanda and Dick spent their retirement years enjoying traveling, motorcycling, boating, and spending time with their family. She enjoyed watching WVU and Marshall football and her grandchildren play sports.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Miller; her parents, Harm and Mary “Bessie” Means; 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Richard (Ruth) Miller, John (Vicki) Miller; five granddaughters and their spouses, Melinda (Doug) Taylor, Lora (Lee) Denny, Cindy (JD) Moffatt, Sherry McMillon, and Wendy (Jonathan) Young; 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A service to honor the life of Wanda Miller will be held at 1 pm Wednesday January 9, 2019 at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston with John and Jonathan Young officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Family and Friends may visit from 12 pm to 1 pm on Wednesday, prior to service.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Vera Rudolph for the years of exceptional care she has provided for Wanda and Dick. Vera helped care for Dick in his last year and had remained living with and caring for Wanda since his passing. She was a great comfort to Wanda and our entire family. The family would also like to thank the nurses of CAMC Memorial and Hubbard Hospice House for the excellent care provided.

    Aunt Wanda (and Uncle Richard) were one of a kind! I have so many great memories of them and spending time at their home with Mama Johnson and the rest of my family. I will forever cherish those. Thinking of you with my deepest sympathy.
