Sterling Scott Payton

Sterling Scott Payton, 55, was taken into the arms of the Lord on Sunday morning September 30, 2018. Scotty was loved by all who knew him.
He was born January 14, 1963 in Charles Town, WV. Since early childhood he enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with his jokes and antics. He grew up under the watchful eye of his mother and maternal grandparents who provided a safe, loving and nurturing environment.
He attended Jefferson County Public Schools and later trained in the field of medical assisting. He worked at several medical centers in the Charleston area.
Scotty’s greatest achievement in life was raising his son Jacob who is smart, gifted, talented and the CEO of his own company. He was truly a proud father. His favorite past time was spending his days taking care of his beautiful granddaughters. He and Mark also enjoyed cooking delicious meals and having folks come over to enjoy the food. Helping people made him very happy. His dogs, Snoop, and Quita led privileged lives, and were a big part of his world. Scotty enjoyed life to the fullest, he never knew a stranger, everybody was his friend.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Payton-Carr, father, James Roper, step father, William Carr, brothers, Doug Roper, and Victor Winston.
He is survived by his faithful and dedicated son, Jacob Skinner, His Partner in Life, Mark Armstead, brother Tyler (Teresa) Payton (Ranson, WV), sisters, Tracey Payton (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Michelle (Jeffrey) Porter (Winchester, VA), two granddaughters, Everleigh Skinner and Mila Skinner as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Christ Life Fellowship, 1565 Smith Rd. Charleston, WV. The viewing will be at 10:00am and the service at 11:00am. Pastor Joseph Kusimo and Kevin Witcher will officiate.
A second service will be next weekend at Kingdom Life Cathedral Ministries, Charles Town, WV.

    Your father was a great guy I didn’t meet him but one time and the whole time he kept me laughing and when him ,Terri and Jaretta and her baby came to our house we got to talk more and he always talked about you Jacob of how proud he was of you and how you always took care of him.I know your dad will definitely be missed. I’m glad I had a chance to meet him my prayers with you and the family I’m here for you always nephew luv you all ❤️??R.I.P Scott spread your wings and fly high ??
