Ellen Elizabeth Cannon

Ellen Elizabeth Cannon, 68 of South Charleston, died June 7, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House, South Charleston. Ellen was an active member of  Metropolitan Baptist Church, Charleston for 25 years where she was a deaconess and trustee.  She was retired from the state of WV with over 30 years of service as a social worker and HIPPA privacy officer with DHHR.

John David Jeffries

John David Jeffries, 50, of Cross Lanes went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House in South Charleston, WV. John was born in South Charleston and graduated from Sissonville High School. He went on to earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration and was a member of Brookside Ministries COGIC in Mount Carbon, WV.

Cleo Patricia McLane

Cleo Patricia McLane, 87 years young, of Charleston went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday June 4th, 2018. “Pat” to all who knew her and “Nanny” to all that loved her. A faithful and dedicated employee for 28 years with the Kanawha County Board of Education, she fed and nourished thousands of Kanawha County students.

M. W. “Jack” Kettering

Long time Charleston resident M. W. “Jack” Kettering rounded third and headed for home on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his wife Donna, son Lane and granddaughter Jaclyn. He is survived by four children: Glen (Claudia), Donna Kettering, Kay Moore (Brad), and Jill Taylor (Silas), eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Bobbie Dove

Bobbie Dove passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 29, 2018. Born Patricia Ann Waugh, on August 25, 1934 to the late Oran and Jewel Waugh in Charleston, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved step father, Frank Lively; sister, Judy Cash; brother, Jerry Waugh and her son, Jerry Lynn Dove.

Mary Lou Ferrell

Mary Lou Ferrell, 80, of South Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on May 28th 2018, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia after a short illness. Mary Lou graduated from South Charleston High School in 1956. She then went to work for C&P Telephone Company and later retired from Maybelline Cosmetics.

Betty Jane Ehman

Betty Jane Ehman, 88, of Charleston, departed this life on Friday, May 18, 2018, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty was born on July 2, 1929 in Leevale, WV, a small coal mining town. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Rena Johnson of Coal City, WV.

Ulysses Grant Young III (U.G.)

Ulysses Grant Young III (U.G.) passed away May 3, 2018, at his home in St. Albans of an existing heart condition. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 1, 1944, to Ulysses Grant   Young II and Juanita Faye Young who predeceased him. U.G. was raised in South Charleston and was a graduate of South Charleston High School.

Tanisha Lavonne Hairston

Tanisha Lavonne Hairston, 29, of South Charleston, died May 15, 2018. Tanisha was loved by many friends and family especially her children Kayleona and Kayden who will miss her much.  She was smart and beautiful and loved music, many didn’t know how well she could sing. She brightened so many people’s lives, she will be missed.

Merdith Eugene Asbury, Jr.

Merdith Eugene Asbury, Jr. 59 of South Charleston died Saturday May 12, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. Junior was retired from the City of South Charleston with 33 years of service.  He was a loving son, husband, brother and friend that always put others before himself.  He will be greatly missed.
