Janice Ann Sayre of Charleston, WV beloved aunt, wife, sister, and friend passed away on March 14,2018 at her residence.

Known to everyone as Aunt Jenny or simply Miss Jenny lived to be 100 years and one day old.

Janice was born on March 13, 1918 in Adams Michigan. A daughter of the late John and Mary Malus of Sharples , WV. Former immigrants of Lithuania.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life of 59 years, her husband, Robert M. Sayre. Two brothers, Alvin Malus, Ralph Malus, one sister, Ida Sue Price, and one nephew, John M. Price.

Those surviving to cherish her memory include two nieces and four nephews that loved her like a mother, Robert Price and Karen Watson (Bill) of Huntington, WV., Mary Ann Adkins (Hobie) of Ona, WV., Chip Malus (June) and David Malus ( Kim) of Salem, VA., and Jeff Sayre (Becky) of New Manchester, WV., and a host of precious great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Janice graduated from Sharples High School and Capital City Commercial College. She retired as an administrative secretary for several West Virginia State Government Departments including Department of Health and held secretarial positions for the Governor’s Office.

Janice was a member of DOES ELK Lodge 202 and the Shadowlawn Neighborhood Garden Club. She dearly loved her neighbors on Dudley Drive.

She and her husband enjoyed their winter seasons a s “Snow Birds” in Venice, Florida where life long friends and memories were made.

Aunt Jenny was a beautiful lady inside and out and lived a blessed full life. She enjoyed world and state politics, fashion, entertaining her family and friends and a dose of Florida Sunshine. Known for her engaging personality, kindness and generosity she lived by her motto of “Family Comes First”.

She was dearly loved by everyone that knew her and will live in their hearts forever.

The Family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the kind caregivers for their devotion , care, and attention given to Aunt Jenny. Those special ladies include Donna, Terri, Robin, Hilda, Amy, Angie and Judy.

Family and friends gathered for a Birthday Celebration of Life on March 13, 2018 at her residence.

In keeping with the wishes of Janice, a private service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Snodgrass Funeral Home of South Charleston is in charge of arrangements.

In Lieu of flowers, we ask for simple acts of kindness in her memory.

    My sincere condolences to Mrs. Sayre’s family. She was a wonderful neighbor to all who knew her in Shadowlawn. She was also a wonderful friend to my parents and to me and my brother. She will be missed.
