Eloise Vance Dement

Eloise Vance Dement 71 of South Charleston passed away on September 14, 2018 at UK Hospital, Lexington, KY.

Eloise was born on November 25, 1946 in Huntington, WV to the late Audley Vance and Helen Berry Eckert.  She was a 1964 Graduate of Vinson High School.  She was a member of First Church of God, South Charleston where she was a member of the choir.  Eloise was retired from United Bank, formerly First Bank of Ceredo with many years of service working at the Huntington, Charleston, Dunbar and South Charleston locations.  She was a member of the South Charleston Women’s Club and most loved spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by her brother, Roger L. Vance.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jim Dement; brother, Rodney Vance (Marsha) of Spring Hill, FL; special Aunt, Juanita White of Summerville, SC; Three Step-daughters, Kathy Pollom (John) of Huntington, WV, Cheryl Harper (Andrew) of Texas, Terry Davenport (T.A. Meade) of Mesa, AZ; step-son, Ralph Dement (Aneta) of Germany; Nieces, Heather Garris (Jimmy) of Ansted, Robin Adkins (David) of Wayne, Tammy Vance, and Angela Vance; nephews, Doug Vance (Rosie) of Uniontown, PA, Robert Vance (Julie) of Charlotte, NC, and Scott Vance; sister in law, Jackie Vance of Huntington; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; Eloise is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and the sisters that she never had…”you know who you are”.

A service to honor the life of Eloise will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at Snodgrass Funeral Home, family and friends may visit from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service.  Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

    Thank you Auntie El for being such a wonderful Godmother. I’ll never forget your peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. You never did get me to try it. Thank you for being my out of state emergency contact. When the big earthquake hit you were able to reach Mom for. You call me back to let me know they were all okay and ease my stress. I will always love you.
