Ella Margaret McDaniel

Ella Margaret McDaniel, 91, of Charleston, entered the gates of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.

She was a member of South Ruffner Presbyterian Church and served in several capacities including, church historian, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and her card ministry. She volunteered at the Union Mission.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Meadows Thompson; husband, Cecil Allison McDaniel; three brothers; and grandchild, Michelle.

Ella is survived by daughters, Sandy Gunnoe of Charleston and Patty (Jim) Strickland of Charleston; sons, Terry (Beth) McDaniel of Red House and Greg (Martha) McDaniel of Dunbar; sisters, Betty Ann (Dick) Burnette of South Charleston and Dora Hundley of Charleston; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

A Service to Honor the Life of Ella will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, August 6, 2018 at South Ruffner Presbyterian Church, Charleston, with Pastor Pete Thompson and Rich Bishoff officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.  Family and Friends may visit from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the church, as well as one hour prior to services at the church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. William Harris& the staff at Hubbard Hospice house.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children Hospital @ stjude.org or 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to HospiceCare, HospiceCarewv.org, or 1606 Kanawha Blvd., Charleston, WV  25387.

    My Aunt Ella has always been the Matriarch of our family; she’s always been there for each of us. I wish I could travel to come to her Homegoing service; but health is not cooperating. My heart, thoughts and prayers are sent to all of my McDaniel cousins and their spouses and children…

    Auntie Ella I shall miss you dearly! You have been the best auntie, mother, wife, grandmother, friend…ezf. anyone could know and love. You have gone home to be with uncle Alison in God and I know you are happy and together.     I wrote one and it disappeared. Nevermind Just know my heart is with you all. Just having lost my own dad (her brother) over a year ago. I know the pain of loosing a parent. Wish I could be there and hug you all! I am in spirit XOXOXOXOX
